International Solidarity Committee

What is the ISC?

The Syracuse DSA International Solidarity Committee is an anti-imperialist body dedicated to standing with immigrants, Palestinians, and all marginalized people facing oppression, displacement, and state violence. Grounded in principles of human dignity, collective liberation, and internationalism, the Committee works to expose and challenge systems that profit from detention, deportation, occupation, and the denial of basic rights. We understand struggles for justice as deeply interconnected, recognizing that borders, prisons, and militarized enforcement are tools used globally to control and dispossess vulnerable communities. Through political education, coalition-building, and direct advocacy, the committee centers the voices and lived experiences of those most impacted while mobilizing local power in service of global solidarity.

Our work translates these values into concrete action through campaigns that pressure institutions to align their policies and resources with human rights. One example is our “Melt the Contracts” project, which advances the principle that public funds should never support companies involved in detention, deportation, or other practices carried out without due process. This initiative reflects the Committee’s broader strategy: using research, policy development, and community organizing to hold governments accountable and to cut material ties between local institutions and systems of harm. By pairing moral clarity with practical policy solutions, the International Solidarity Committee seeks not only to resist injustice, but to actively build a world rooted in care, accountability, and shared liberation.
